Focus on Local History
Each month, join local historian Gavin Schmitt (and the occasional guest speaker) to learn about a piece of Kaukauna. Maybe a founding father (or mother!), a long-time business, or perhaps an organization that has helped the city grow. The sharing of memories is strongly encouraged, and proposals for future topics are welcome.
September - guest speaker former Police Chief Pat Campbell on the Kaukauna Police Department
October - author Boll Stokes will discuss Wisconsin POW camps and his new novel Margaret's War, the story of an isolated small town in Wisconsin suddenly thrust into the brutal reality of World War II when German POWs are brought in to help with crop harvesting.
November - Thilmany Reunion and History Display - come and share memories of the Thilmany mill, reminisce, and explore books and artifacts related to its history.
